Sorry, "unverified" was probably the wrong word to use in that context.
I am under the impression that it is still possible during the "ten free
hours" that come with the standard ubiquitous AOL trial diskette to
send email and post to Usenet -- before handing over a credit card
number of any sort.
If this information is out of date, I apologize.
