Subject: Re: Listserv and Majordomo Mail Loop Explained
Greetings, Dave Voorhis!
Thank you for setting up http://www.armchair.mb.ca/~dave/mloop.html
At the site where I'm Majordomo co-admin, I'm logging all messages sent
to the majordomo alias complete with headers. Here is a copy of the first
message in that nasty loop, which got the ball rolling. You might want to
include it in your web page for the following reason: Unless this message
was fabricated (which I don't think)
1) it contains some evidence on whether the loop was started intentionally
or unintentionally,
2) it contains the name of the culprit, "Boyan Jekov".
I think this should be published for the following reasons:
A) If Boyan Jekov is really guilty of this, he should apologize publically
and make amends. I think a reasonable estimate of the cost of the damage
(sysadmin time, mainly) would be US-$100 for every site concerned. So, he
should find out together with his employers and their insurence company
(if any) who has to pay for this damage. I think it would be acceptable
if the money (US-$100 times the number of non-local hosts on that listinfo
list) is paid to the Free Software Foundation instead of paying it to all
affected sites, which would require a great administrative effort. Of
course, Boyan Jekov should check with the administrators of the concerned
sites first, to make sure that this solution is acceptable for all
concerned parties.
B) If a person named "Boyan Jekov" really exists, but is not guilty, it
should be brought to his attention that he has been seriously slandered
and his reputation has been seriously damaged by some pranksters, and
he should make sure that the real culprits are found out, and that they
are made to pay for their crime. (Damaging someone's reputation with a
fabricated message in his name is a serious crime.)
C) If no "Boyan Jekov" exists, at least it doesn't hurt to publish this. But
I have a feeling that he exists.
Yours sincerely,
Norbert Bollow

Your message to listinfo was redirected to listserver@mac.vmei.acad.bg because
it seemed to contain listserver commands and not a real message.
If this was not your intention and it really was a message please change the
first word of the subject and/or body so that it does not look like a command
and send it again to listinfo@mac.vmei.acad.bg.
If you are not sure what words are commands you can get a list of the commands
that this listserver accepts by sending a message with "HELP" in the body of a
message to listserver@mac.vmei.acad.bg.
